From MineolaBuzz.com: This Saturday, 26 teams will compete in the First Annual Shannon Seaton Memorial Softball Tournament. Mineola lost the beloved teacher, citizen, husband and father last month and this tournament was organized in his name. All money raised will benefit the Shannon Seaton Scholarship Fund. Seaton’s daughter Madelynn will throw the opening pitch at 7:30 am. Admission for adults is $3 and children over two are $2. The tournament will be at the Mineola Recreational Complex on Ivey St ( FM 1254).

33rd annual Senior Citizens Extravaganza! The City of Longview Parks and Recreation Department and the Green Street Recreation Center will host the 33rd Annual Senior Citizens Extravaganza on Saturday, August 17, 2013! The theme of this year's event is "TV Land Comedy Hour." The event, which includes a meal and show, will take place at the Longview Exhibit Building, 1123 Jaycee Dr. The event is open to the public and is expected to attract hundreds of East Texans. The program includes local entertainers, Green Street Recreation Center members, door prizes, music, food, and much more. This summer, the East Texas Arboretum is hosting a series of Family Fun Friday Nights at the East Texas Arboretum and Botanical Society. On August 16th, the Arboretum will have Ferris Bueller's Night, Movies in the Park, Sock Hop and a Car & Motorcycle Show!
