Investment planning helps improve outlook

The recent election was a hot topic of conversation among the people attending the Hardy Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors open house on Tuesday.  The open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new facility at 5858 New Copeland Road in Tyler allowed clients and new neighbors an opportunity to meet with staff team members.

Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass attended the event.  She believes the city’s growth over the past decade is primarily due to the quality of life offered here.  “A tremendous percentage of newcomers in Tyler are attracted by our overall quality of life as a place to raise their children.  The majority of people relocating to Tyler do so because they perceive this to be a city that fosters family values.  At the same time, they view Tyler as an ideal place to retire,” the Mayor contends.

Steve Hardy, Managing Director of Investments, agrees.  Hardy grew up in Tyler, but moved away to Dallas for eleven years in order to gain business experience.  He moved back here 22 years ago.  “My roots are here,” Hardy explains, “This is where I felt I could build a business and could make the most impact on other people’s lives.”  Hardy Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors is his business, a business enjoying success, “primarily because we have our clients’ best interests at heart,” Hardy says.  “Our passion is to motivate and inspire people to think about their future.  Helping our clients grow into more affluent citizens builds a stronger economy for our whole community.”

Hardy likes to think of their new building as a sanctuary for clients.  He also believes it provides the necessary capacity for their team of financial advisors to serve more people, and the community inspires the group to make an impact for generations of East Texans.

While the recession of 2008 did not affect East Texas as harshly as other parts of the nation, the state of the economy remains an important topic here.  There is concern about the national debt, taxes & expense cuts.  Investors who plan well have been known to have more consistency in uncertain times.

"People are more sophisticated about planning their retirements now," Tom Davis explains.  Davis is a financial consultant working with Hardy.  He, too, has East Texas roots.  Growing up in Longview, he spent eight years in Dallas advising his clients throughout the country before returning home to East Texas.  "We help our clients consistently monitor their progress so they financially prepare for changes in their lives and the economy.  Following up and making necessary adjustments to an investment plan is critical to their success."  Davis believes their team culture creates the opportunity to help more people protect and grow their wealth here, which is how they are making a positive impact in East Texas.

Another advisor with Hardy’s group, Ben Gann, shared his perspective.  “Individual financial security is as important as national security,” he believes, “We must have both.”  His opinion comes from a background of thirty years serving in the Air Force.  Rising to the rank of Brigadier General, nearly every day of Gann’s military life was devoted to the nation’s security.  “The responsibility is virtually the same,” says Gann, contrasting the effort involved in developing plans to maintain the safety of the nation with the role he now plays in the private sector.  “You cannot have security without planning for it.  Whether protecting our borders from invasion or protecting the value of investments, you must plan effectively.”

The people who depend on Hardy Wealth Management to plan their future also choose to live here for the same reasons – family values and a quality of life.

Helping people to think realistically about the future is critical.  “We ask the right questions of our clients,” Hardy confides, “Once we know what their goals are, then we can develop a plan that increases the likelihood of reaching those goals.”  It is easy to get caught up in Hardy’s passion.  To him, the business is more than merely managing a portfolio of investments.  “As our clients reach their goals, they become more involved with the community.  They reach out with generosity, supporting causes throughout the community.  That makes Tyler a better place.”

Creating a personalized investment plan can be the key to a stable future, for the individual and for the community as a whole.  The Hardy Wealth Management team is excited to help their clients achieve a level of financial freedom.  The bonus of watching clients’ successes has been an intangible reward making a very meaningful difference in our community.
